thursday night tv.
Nov. 4th, 2007 05:09 pmI'm bummed that there was no 30 Rock this week, although that's one added episode for them to air during the writer's strike. Ugh, those are three of the most depressing words ever.
Anyhoo...
01. I love Mindy's episodes. (The only one I don't like is "Ben Franklin", simply because it's not that memorable.) Mindy's given me so many of my favorite moments: Dwight buying a purse in "Hot Girl"; Jim, Michael and Dwight's drive to the hospital in "The Injury"; Michael's interactions with Toby's daughter, Sasha, in "Take Your Daughter To Work Day"; THE DUNDIES. I love Mindy so so much. She is totally my Nora Ephron.
02. The Finer Things Club: I thought it was completely obvious that it was a tongue in cheek way for Pam, Oscar and Toby to get together during their break to discuss all things not work-related. I just don't see the finger sandwiches and tea and COSTUMES as part of something that is serious business. Oscar's attitude towards the club, and Jim in particular, is no different than his views on almost everything ever. Oscar = SRS BUSINESS. (You KNOW he's the top at home.)
03. Toby's tie. I love it simply for Michael's reaction. "I have no words." "This is why people want to leave." LOL. You know who makes ridiculous bows look GOOD?

Oh, yeeeeeah.
04. Karen & Jim: Awkwardness at its finest. I think it's great that Jim was shown in such an unflattering light. I love the guy, but he's not a gallant knight (nor is Pam a reformed damsel in distress) and I love that this season is showing Jim is a flawed person (aka HUMAN).
05. What happened to Angela? Did she need a full day of repentance after a night with Andy? Five turns of the rosary while bathing in holy water?
06. Dear Finer Things Club - Why won't you let Andy into your stupid club for jerks?! (Mmmm, Simpsons moment...)
07. "Big butt. Bigger Heart." = my epitaph
Ugly Betty reminds me that I still need to see Wicked. (Relatedly, it should remind Wicked to come back to Providence.)

Date: 2007-11-05 12:13 am (UTC)I'm also glad that they choose to write Jim as a human. Anyone who thinks he was the perfect guy all along really ought to revisit the scene in Booze Cruise where he breaks up with Katie.
Wicked is good, but the book is much, much better.
