prelude to an inevitable letdown.

I'm giving my Emmy predictions now because I'm bored and my hair is marinating in hair dye. I'm only focusing on the comedy categories because I only watch one drama, and for some reason, the one person I wanted to be nominated, Jack Motherfucking Coleman, was overlooked by sentimental favorite, Masi Oka. (Whyyy, Academy of Television Arts and Sciences? Whyyyyyyyyyyy?!) This is where my cynicism kicks in. I'm completely expecting NONE of my favorites to win. TWoP is pretty much expecting the same.
Here are the people i want to win. These are probably the people who won't win.
Outstanding Comedy Series
Ugly Betty
Entourage
The Office
30 Rock
Two And A Half Men
I can't choose, you guys! I want The Office to win because it's my favorite show ever and it's my happy place and there is literally nothing I don't love about it. On the other hand, should 30 Rock win, that would be awesome too because it could use the publicity. It was literally LAST in ratings last season, and maybe an Emmy win will gain them a few more fans. (Although, Arrested Development may have something to say about that.)
Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series
Tony Shalhoub, Monk
Steve Carell, The Office
Alec Baldwin, 30 Rock
Ricky Gervais, Extras
Charlie Sheen, Two And A Half Men
Can Steve Carell get a fucking Emmy already? I want my Fake News reunion, damn it! (I'm also peeing in anticipation of the Carell/Colbert/Helms/Stewart lovefest that is sure to ensue backstage. Get on that, Getty!) Alec Baldwin's pretty amazing in 30 Rock, but he's also a one-trick pony. There's so much more depth to Michael Scott.
Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series
America Ferrera, Ugly Betty
Felicity Huffman, Desperate Housewives
Julia Louis-Dreyfus, The New Adventures of Old Christine
Tina Fey, 30 Rock
Mary-Louise Parker, Weeds
Tina-na-na! Her acting was wobbly during the first few episodes, but she's my longtime TV wife so I'll support her nonetheless. I won't be upset if MLP takes it though.
Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series
Jeremy Piven, Entourage
Rainn Wilson, The Office
Jon Cryer, Two and a Half Men
Neil Patrick Harris, How I Met Your Mother
Kevin Dillon, Entourage
I'm basing my decision on the fact that (a) The Office deserves every award ever and (b) Rainn would offer the greatest acceptance speech ever.
Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series
Holland Taylor, Two and a Half Men
Conchata Ferrell, Two and a Half Men
Jenna Fischer, The Office
Vanessa Williams, Ugly Betty
Jaime Pressly, My Name Is Earl
Elizabeth Perkins, Weeds
Anything else would send me into a blinding rage. Seriously.
Also, I'm not sure if I want Stephen Colbert to win Outstanding Individual Performance in a Variety or Music Program, or if I'd rather see Tony Bennett win it and have Stephen experience faux rage for a full week. Either would be pretty sweet.

Date: 2007-09-16 02:05 am (UTC)I'm having that same dilemma. But there's no way his faux rage could be as great as when he lost to Barry Manilow. Hee, that was so hilarious.
Carell/Colbert/Helms/Stewart lovefest
Yes, please!!! Bring on the orgy! Oh wait, you meant... yeah, that's what I thought! Man orgy! Although I could do without Jon Stewart. *hides*
I agree with all of your choices, by the way, except for Best Actress. I love Tina, but... I'm an Ugly Betty girl through and through. Yes, America is the sappy choice, but I love her. Can't help it.
I think the hardest category to choose is Best actor because they all (except for Charlie Sheen) are so deserving of it. Steve's my first choice, Alec's my second, and Tony's my third. Ricky is okay, I love Extras, but he's not nearly as deserving of it as the other three. Normally my first choice would be Tony because I'm a total Monkaholic, but he's already won so many times and last season kind of sucked.
Rainn's definitely my choice for supporting actor. Supporting actress I guess my choice is Jenna, but I must admit that I'm not the biggest Pam fan. *hides again* I wouldn't mind if Jaime Pressly won, because she's hilarious. And Venessa Williams would be cool too, she's absolutely amazing, but I don't think she deserves it over Jenna or Jaime.
Anyway, I'll be watching purely for that man orgy. If it doesn't happen, then I'll go into a blinding rage!

Date: 2007-09-16 03:05 am (UTC)the faux rage at Tony Bennett would be fun, but I really think Stephen deserves it, The Colbert Report was fantastic last year.
