I loved this episode as well, but I had the same beef as you with the locked in thing. I immediately thought Phyllis should just call Bob Vance... her HUSBAND! If they didn't want it to be that easy, she could have at least made a throwaway comment about him being out of town or something. Otherwise it just seems ridiculous that she wouldn't call him.
My other beef is with Ryan's apartment. Could he possibly be making THAT much money to support a crazy luxurious apartment plus drinking at fancy clubs every night plus cocaine? How much freakin' money could that corporate job be worth? Jan never struck me as all that wealthy when she had that job... wealthier that Michael and wealthier than ME, but not super rich. I mean, aren't crappy apartments in NYC ridiculously expensive? Ryan's looked fancy. Maybe that's all part of it, though. Maybe he's living way above his means because the small amount of success went to his head and, in addition to the coke habit, all the financial stuff will crash down on him soon.
