Jim knew he liked Pam when she walked him to his desk and introduced him to Dwight. So, then, how does him confessing to Pam, in "The Secret", that he had a crush on her when she started working at Dunder Mifflin work?

maybe jim and dwight weren't desk buddies at first, and the day it happened, pam introduced jim to his new desk roomie as in 'holy crap look who you're stuck with from now on'...?
