paddington bear heads for hollywood
According to Yahoo!News:
Dear Hollywood - Don't screw the pooch on this, a-wipes! Paddington Bear was my childhood literary hero. (He was part of a trifecta of illustrated idols, along with Lyle Lyle the Crocodile and Madeline.) I'm cringing at the "live-action family comedy" description. A CGI'd Paddington makes me want to cry. I'm sad that two-dimensional animation is now seemingly defunct. Thanks a lot, Toy Story! (Kidding. I loves me some Toy Story.)
Paddington Bear, a teddy in a duffle coat who loves marmalade sandwiches and has impeccable manners, is the latest character from a children's book to head for Hollywood aiming at movie stardom.

Hey, do you know what's up with thehelms.org? It hasn't been working for the past few days. *sobs*

Can I just say that I'm actually really happy with the way "Uncle John" (as some Disney fans are referring to him) has been working with Disney feature animation? He yanked the concept for Toy Story 3, shelved some really bad ideas and tweaked some good ones to make them even better. "Uncle John" is saving animation as we've always known it - good stories, a lot of heart and semi-life-like drawing :)
Leave it to me to discuss animation-type stuff... But yes, I'd be disturbed to see Hollywood touch Paddington. I used to watch a show when I was younger that just had a narrator and some very basic animation of Paddington Bear, but it's just like the "updated" Winnie the Pooh. (Wasn't the 1960s version good enough? He was cute!!) Messing with a good thing always sucks.
